Self-doubt is problem that everyone encounters at some point or another. While women regularly face social pressures about the way they look, the number they see when they step on the scale and their actions, self-doubt does not discriminate based on gender. When I was younger and would become the victim of my own negative thoughts, my mother would tell me to make a list of FIVE things I love about myself. Over the years my list has changed, many times. I now keep my list in the corner of my mirror, where I see it every morning when I get ready for the day.
I love quotes and these gems are all worth keeping in mind…
“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” –Lucille Ball
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” – Buddha
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.” – Malcolm S. Forbes
“I think everybody’s weird. We should all celebrate our individuality and not be embarrassed or ashamed of it.” – Johnny Depp
And always remember,
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
What are the five, or ten, things you love most about yourself?
