I will preface this with the fact that I am not a big fan of cinnamon. I have only ever really liked cinnamon in cinnamon rolls.
If you cruise through recipes on Pinterest for cinnamon rolls it seems as though most of the options require you to prep them overnight…not this one, my friends. These delicious homemade cinnamon rolls are ready to eat in just a smidge over an hour!

Cinnamon Rolls

Dough:
1 C milk
¼ C butter
2 ¼ tsp yeast
¼ C sugar
1 egg
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
3 ½ C flour (the ½ C will be used for flouring a surface for rolling out the dough)

Preheat oven to 350ᵒ.

Microwave milk and butter for 45 seconds, each. Then mix together in a large bowl.
Add yeast and sugar. Whisk together, then set aside (covered with a towel) for 10 minutes.
After the 10 minutes, uncover the bowl. Add egg, salt, and vanilla then whisk together.
Add the flour one cup at a time (3 total cups), and work it into a ball.
Cover and let it sit for another 10 minutes.

Filling:
½ C butter
½ C brown sugar
½ C sugar
2 Tbs cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla

Soften butter.
Mix all ingredients in a small/medium bowl.

After the 10 minutes for the second sitting session, roll out the dough on a floured surface.
Using a spatula or your hands, spread the filling evenly on the rolled-out dough (all the way to the edges).
Starting on one edge, roll the dough over on itself until you have a long log shape.
Cut the dough into one-inch slices (they should have a lovely spiral to them).
Place the pieces into a greased 9X13” pan.
Bake for 24-26 minutes.

Frosting:
¼ C butter
4 oz cream cheese
1 ½ C powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Soften the butter, then combine all ingredients in a small bowl.
Wait until the cinnamon rolls have cooled a little (about 10 minutes) to pour the icing on top. (If you don’t wait, the frosting just melts and runs everywhere.)

Serve and enjoy!
