Happy Flag Day everyone!
In case you didn’t know about Flag Day, let me share some of its history with you…
Flag Day is celebrated every year on June 14th. It is a day to commemorate and honor the stars and stripes. It all started way back in 1777 when the Continental Congress passed a resolution to calling for an official American flag. Although many through the years desperately wanted, and passionately advocated for, a national holiday to honor Old Glory, Flag Day did not become an official holiday until 1949 when President Truman signed the national observance of Flag Day into law – on June 14th.
To go a step further, the week of June 14 (June 13-19, 2021; June 12-18, 2022; etc.) is “National Flag Week” which is celebrated with parades and other events throughout the country.
One aspect of my dream house is to have an American flag proudly displayed off the front porch. Even my dollhouse sports beautiful red, white and blue bunting for Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4th, and Veterans Day!
While biking through my neighborhood I have noticed, many times, how many houses proudly display our flag. Recently I decided to take a walk and photograph all the flags in the neighborhood. Check out all of these beauties:
