Today I am sharing a great last minute homemade gift that is sure to impress. It is a great option for a family member, friend, co-worker, or even a host or hostess gift.
I think we all have at least one person that is difficult to shop for…either they already have everything they need, there isn’t something they particularly want, or what they want it out of your budget.
This is a great option because handmade items always show you put some time into it – even if it was just while you were watching Hallmark movies two days before the gift exchange.

SIMPLE (2 STITCH)
CROCHET SCARF
SUPPLIES:
–yarn of your choice (ombre yarn adds a little something extra to this otherwise simple pattern)
–9mm crochet hook (This is a fairly large sized hook, but it allows for the stitches to be looser which keeps the piece from being stiff.)
–scissors
ABREVIATIONS:
FC – Foundation Chain
ch – Chain
HDC – Half Double Crochet
R – Row
DIRECTIONS:
FC: ch 157
R1: In the second stitch from the hook add a HDC, then HDC to the end of the FC. After the last HDC ch 1, turn.
R2-13: HDC to the end of the previous row, ch 1, turn.
R14: HCD to the end of the previous row, fasten off. Weave in ends.
NOTE: If you want to put your own spin on it, or if you recipient has no need for a scarf, you can still use this same pattern as a base… Keep going beyond the 14 rows to make it longer (you may need another skein of yarn), then (ta da!) you have a lap blanket!
Don’t really understand the pattern? Follow along with the video below to make it easier.
