I have talked about reading a bit before…It has always been a big part (for various reasons) of my life.
I typically set a goal for myself at the start of each year…something along the lines of Read 30 Books This Year, Read 17,000 Pages This Year, or something more general like The Year of the Series. This all started in 2014, and I keep track in a spreadsheet as the year progresses (yes, I am a nerd, I have confessed as much before). You can see all the books I have read since 2014 on my “My Reading List” page.
This year I want to include others. I have put together a short little challenge that can be worked into your own reading goals for the year.
I would like to set a reading challenge for you (and me) for this year. I hereby challenge you to mark everything off this list by December 31, 2022. I have included 12 book prompts (one for each month) feel free to read more! I’m going to call it the:
2022 Reading Scavenger Hunt
- Read at least one book by Ayn Rand (I personally recommend Atlas Shrugged because it is my favorite, though Anthem is much shorter and is timely given the state of the world).
- Read at least one self-help/self-improvement book.
- Read at least one book set in a country you would like to visit.
- Read at least one book that is funny.
- Read at least one book being released in 2022.
- Read at least one book that was published the year you were born.
- Read at least one book originally published the year your oldest grandparent was born.
- Read at least one book about someone you admire (biography or autobiography).
- Read at least one book that is more than 500 pages long (that is about 17 pages each day/mo).
- Read at least one book by Agatha Christie (Queen of Mystery).
- Read at least one book that you’ve read before (and loved – it is good to visit old friends).
- Read at least one book that is considered a classic. (GoodReads.com has a list of 1,768 “Must Read Classics” that can help you pick one.)
Bonus: Americans – re-read the US Constitution (and amendments) and reacquaint yourself with your rights. (Read it here for free or print out the Pdf.)
P.S. – GoodReads.com has a page where you can look up the most popular books published in any given year (within the last hundred years) (if you need a year further back simply google “books published in [year]” and it will pull up the GoodReads page for that year in the top two search results)– this will be helpful when looking for a book to mark number six and number seven off the list.
Download a copy to print and check off or save it and check it off in the Pdf.
