Wednesday, February 9th was National Pizza Day, and according to the votes in a poll in my Instagram stories, y’all want my homemade pizza dough recipe. I can’t blame you; it is that good!
It is toothsome, but not in a chewy or cardboard kind of way. It stands up to the challenge of holding up your toppings without flopping.

Without further ado…

Homemade Pizza Dough Recipe

The Best Homemade Pizza Dough

Ingredients:

1 C warm water (105°-110°F)
1 Tbs sugar
1tsp salt
1 Tbs dry yeast
2-2 ½ C flour
corn meal for dusting

Directions:

Preheat oven to 450°.

Dust a cookie sheet with corn meal (this keeps the dough from sticking to the pan while baking).

Add the warm water, sugar, and yeast to a mixing bowl and stir to combine.

Let mixture sit for 5 minutes.

Add olive oil, then gently stir.

Add 2 cups of flour, along with the salt, and mix with a spatula until a ball forms (add more flour as needed).

Knead on a floured surface.

Transfer to the cookie sheet and roll into desired shape.

Prick the dough with a fork – all over the rolled-out form.

Bake for 5 minutes.

Poke any visible bubbles.

Add pizza sauce and toppings.

Bake for another 13-15 minutes.

Cool. Cut. Serve. Enjoy!

Pizza from a local restaurant is always a tasty treat, but there is something about knowing what goes into your pizza that makes homemade [pizza] pies even tastier!

Homemade pizza is so customizable. Not only can you grate your own cheese and pick from the standard toppings (pepperoni, hamburger, mushrooms, peppers, onions, pineapple, etc.) you can also make them into your own desired shape and size. You can make mini pizzas, or one large one.
Feeling “cheesy”? Make a heart shaped pizza! The possibilities are endless, and so tasty.

P.S. Today is National Drink Wine Day…what better way to complete a delicious pizza dinner than with a glass of wine!
